Jess Bateman wins the Kent Open

On Saturday the 23rd April Caitlyn Parfitt and Jessica Bateman made the trip to Kent to compete in the Kent u14 Open event. Both girls won their group without trouble and progressed to the elimination stage. Unfortunately they faced each other in the quarter final and after a very close match it was Jess who emerged with the win. Jess then faced the first of two tough Warwickshire players first in the semi final. After going to 3 Jess won through to the final 15-10 11-15 15-12. In the final Jess was up against another Warwickshire player who again took her to 3 hard very close games but the Norfolk player was up to the task winning by the narrowest of margins 15-10 12-15 17-15.

The Norfolk girls paired up in the doubles and after winning their opening game they played the group deciding game, they won the first game 15-3 but then lost 13-15 15-17 and went out of the tournament.
