Badminton Development in Norfolk
A note from Norfolk's Regional Development Officer
On October 1st my current position as full-time Badminton Development Officer will be coming to an end, and I will be starting my new part time role as one of BADMINTON England’s Regional Officers for the East Region.
My key responsibilities in my new role will be as follows:
- Setting up Community Badminton Networks (CBNs) in Norfolk: initially in West Norfolk and Norwich, with a 3rd planned for Thetford. Within these CBNs I will be working closely with specific clubs and schools to achieve accreditation and provide official school-club links; organising adult participation programmes in conjunction with key partners, linked to continued playing opportunities; and co-ordinating coaches to deliver activities within the CBNs
- Provide contact and support to Norfolk Badminton Association
- Promoting BADMINTON England’s key programmes across the county, such as Bisi, the Center Parcs National Schools Championships, Clubmark accreditation, and affiliation
I will continue to be BADMINTON England’s lead contact for Norfolk, and will still be able to respond to general queries. As I move to a part-time role however, I would like to take the opportunity to remind you that you may be able to find the answers to many queries online. For example, you can find details of all forthcoming coaching courses at www.badmintonengland.co.uk, and how to book with the County Coaching Secretary on the Norfolk Badminton website. Details of all local senior and junior clubs can be found on this website, and details on a number of local sporting initiatives at www.activenorfolk.org. I am also hoping we will soon be able to make available a list of active coaches in Norfolk, which once finished will on this website too.
If you have any queries, my planned working hours will be Mondays in West Norfolk, Thursdays in Norwich (based at Active Norfolk), and Friday mornings. I can be contacted on my existing email (normabowen@badmintonengland.co.uk) and, at these specific times, by phone on 07725 413 543.
