U15 County Championships
Young badminton players from around the County converged on Norwich on 13 October to challenge for the Norfolk U15 County titles. 13 boys, some as young as 11, participated in some keenly contested badminton. U13s County player, Callum Cox, played especially well to emerge a semi-finalist against James Salter, with the other semis featuring Robbie Hobson and George Vickers. Salter came out overall victor, defeating Hobson 22-20 and 21-15.
The boys, unusually, were outnumbered by girls, with 16 entries in the singles event. The semi-finals was more of a predictable affair, featuring all Norfolk U15 team players, with Lauren Mortimer defeating Atlanta Harrison and Kate Sawyer getting the better of Beth Underwood. Mortimer went on to take the singles title, winning 21-8, 21-9. Vickers and Hobson convincingly took the Boys Doubles defeating Liam Bond and James Salter, 21-10, 21-10. Similarly, Mortimer and Sawyer, saw off the challenge of Annalise Gray and Harrison, taking the Girls Doubles title 21-4, 21-9. Kate Sawyer joined Hobson is taking home two trophies when, teamed up with Vickers, they faced Harrison and Salter. In a tightly contested match, they emerged County Mixed Doubles champions with a 21-17, 20-21, 21-11 scoreline.
