County Badminton Report
Norfolk's Under 15 and 17 teams took on their Cambridgeshire counterparts in Shires League matches which saw the county debut of some of the Norfolk players. The Under 15s started their match by sharing the mixed doubles with Dominic Ely, partnered by Lauren Mortimer and George Vickers teamed up with Kate Sawyer winning for Norfolk. The boys dominated the singles with Ely, Tom Boardman and Ben Sharman picking up three of the four matches. The girls were out of luck in their games, although Alice Alvi-Coe and Ella Ainsworth took their opponents to three sets. Going into the level doubles, Norfolk were 5-7 down, Ely and Ben Page and Boardman and Vickers each won one match,for Norfolk,whilst Mortimer and Sawyer won both their games. The team displayed excellent team work throughout the match, but unfortunately lost 9-11.
The Under 17s team also lost by an identical score line. The mixed doubles went to Cambs 3 games to 1, with Sam Dismore and Kate Witting winning a marathon match for Norfolk 21-23,28-26,21-11. The boys singles were shared , with Dismore and Ben Tozer winning their games. Georgia Moyes, Katie Witting and Emma Piper came out on top for the girls. The match finished with the level doubles, which the girls shared two all, whilst the boys lost three out of four.
* Kathryn Adamson and Georgia Moyes entered the Cambridgeshire Under 15s bronze championships and returned home with winners medals. Kathryn won the girls singles, whilst Georgia reached the semi-finals and then the two girls teamed up to win the girls doubles - an excellent result for both of them.
