Tough Weekend for Norfolk Juniors
Two of Norfolks junior teams were in Shires League action against Suffolk with the Under 17s earning a hard fought 10 all draw and the Under 15s B team losing a close match 12-8.
The Under 17s match was very even with 9 of the 20 games going to 3 sets, and all the players contributing to a very good team performance. Representing Norfolk were John Carrier, Chris Piff, Ryan Minns, Daniel Leers, Lee Robinson, Sarah Lewin, Charlotte Crosby, Rebecca Heeles and Stephanie Rowland.
The Under 15s showed their strength in depth, with three Under 13 girls playing in the higher age group. The team put in a very creditable performance with the result hanging in the balance until the last round of games.Playing for Norfolk were Mark Robinson, Luke Cox, Ashley Robb, Andrew Carrier, Louise Thacker, Annie Giles, Amy Bonham and Amy Sharman.
A friendly was also played for the remaining squad members, which Norfolk won 8-4. Michael Woodridge, Adam Simmonds and Vivek Sharma played for the county.
* Norfolk entered a team in the Yehlex Veterans Inter-County Championships and were drawn in a group including Buckinghamshire, Warwickshire, Nottinghamshire and Shropshire. The format was somewhat unusual, with one ladies, one mens and two mixed doubles and each county playing the other four twice. Norfolk finished in the mid-table position, with Bucks winning and Warwicks taking second place.
