U17 Championships

On Saturday, an impressive turnout of 26 boys and 18 girls competed in the U17 County Championships. The tournament kicked off with the mixed doubles at Sewell Park College with 13 pairs fighting to get through the group stages. The final was an excitingly close match between James Salter and Atlanta Harrison against the new partnership of Robbie Hobson and Lucy Jarvis. Hobson and Jarvis fighting back at the last minute to win 22-20.

The girls then travelled to Framingham Earl High School to play singles and level doubles. Under 13 squad member Catlin Parfitt reached the final of the singles before loosing to Atlanta Harrison 21-8.  In the girls doubles final Atlanta Harrison and Lucy Jarvis won the trophy 21-17 against Thomasin Ainsworth-Harrold and Amy Heyhoe.

Back at Sewell Park the 26 boys fought through the group and knock stages to the semi-finals where James Salter played Daniel Hughes and Robbie Hobson took on Joe Rolfe. The final was an epic battle between Salter and Hobson, with Salter the eventual winner 21-18. The boys doubles final followed with Salter and Rolfe up against the well established partnership of Hobson and George Vickers who won 21-14 to round off the day.
